Goldhanger Parish Magazine Article - March  2017

Our next meeting is to be held on Wednesday March 1st and our speaker will be Dudley Chignall. The subject of his talk is BEATRIX POTTER. There will be a ‘flower of the month’ competition so have a look around your garden for a single stem flower brave enough to show itself above the parapet. This is the time of year that we collect in the cakes for Farleigh Hospice and we will be discussing this at the March meeting.

Our last meeting was different. Sadly, our speaker had a family bereavement during the afternoon and had to cancel. She was most concerned and let us know immediately. Carol and Margaret quickly found some humorous items to read out, by Pam Ayres and Sandi Toksvig, and there was more chatting time than usual but the evening went well. A representative group of chaps from the Village Hall Committee arrived to tell us all about the plans for the new entrance  and we were very gentle with them. Thanks for all the information Gentlemen.

The ‘flower of the month was a wonderful spotted hellebore brought along by Sheila and second place was taken by Linda’s mauve wallflower. Everyone enjoyed the lovely refreshments. Thank you to the members who made and served them. Thanks also to the team that set up the hall so efficiently.

Activities for March are the Chelmsford Ballet on 22nd March and the Lent Lunch on Friday 10th March, always a popular village event, with the proceeds going to Christian Aid.
