Goldhanger Parish Magazine Article - April 2017
GOLDHANGER, LITTLE TOTHAM and TOLLESHUNT MAJOR W.I.
Something a little different for our next meeting on April 5th. Scott Bannister is our speaker and his subject is entitled “WHAT IS ADVANCED DRIVING?”Let’s hope that we find the answer! Please bring a single stem flower from your garden to enter into the competition.
Last month we heard all about Beatrix Potter and her wonderful characters that have entertained generations of children. Dudley Chignall led us eloquently into the world of Hill Top, in the Lake District, with the aid of magnificent photographs. We visited the familiar haunts of Peter Rabbit, Mrs Tiggywinkle and the rest and saw gateways and locations, unchanged by the passing years, evoking memories of the author’s beautiful illustrations.
We are most grateful for the help given by members in setting up the hall and providing such lovely refreshments. Everyone I spoke to had really enjoyed the whole evening.
Our February activity was TEN-PIN BOWLING at the Leisure Centre and we all enjoyed our morning. The result was close with only a single point between the winner, Barbara and the joint runners-up, Mary and Kaye. Congratulations to all.
We hosted the Village Lent Lunch on Friday 10th March and the hall was buzzing with chatter while people enjoyed a choice of home-made soups followed by bread and cheese. It was very well supported , as always, and the money raised is for CHRISTIAN AID. May we thank all our members (and a couple of husbands) who worked hard throughout the day to make it a success. We thank all the villagers and their friends for attending and contributing to a worthy cause.
Next month’s extra activity is our SPRING LUNCH AT THE CHEQUERS.
