GOLDHANGER, LITTLE TOTHAM and TOLLESHUNT MAJOR W.I.
Our next meeting will be held in the Village Hall on Wednesday March 7th and our speaker is Amanda Sutherland. The subject of her talk is:- STAGE COSTUME DESIGNER TO JEWELLERY MAKER. Please bring a ‘flower of the month’ for the competition. Check our website for any information about refreshments for the evening.
The February meeting was well attended in spite of the bitter cold night and our speaker was Steve Clarke. We were treated to an extra bit of history of the Women’s suffrage Movement at the start of Steve’s talk and then he guided us through the sixties in America with all the intrigues and scandals . We all learned such a lot and Steve’s relaxed presentation was enjoyed by all. He certainly knows his stuff.
The annual WI short list of resolutions was outlined for us by Kerry and we voted to forward our order of preference to the National Federation. It was quite a significant point in the meeting that we were to make our views known to Parliament on the 100th Anniversary of women over 30 getting the vote. The ‘WI voice’ is certainly listened to in the 21st century.
Pat Erridge took first place in the ‘flower of the month’ competition with a very pretty viburnum and Sue’s hellebore was second. The refreshments were delicious and we thank the members who prepared and served them.
We will be having our ANNUAL SPRING LUNCH in April. It will be held at the Chequers on 19th April. A board will be circulated at the March meeting
