GOLDHANGER, LITTLE TOTHAM and TOLLESHUNT MAJOR W.I.
Our next meeting will be held in the village Hall at 7.30 p.m. on March 2nd. The speaker will be Sally Brown who will talk to us about SUGARCRAFT and includes a demonstration of techniques. Members are invited to bring along a single stem flower from their garden to take part in our ‘flower of the month’ competition.
The talk last month, by Jess Jephcott, was a guide to the various pub signs that we see on our visits to Colchester and the surrounding area. Many of them had an interesting story to tell of past times. We all enjoyed the lovely refreshments provided by members and we heard about various activities to be enjoyed during the year. In March we will be going to the Ten Pin Bowling Alley once again and having lunch at the Izumi. The date for this is March 21st. Further details will be given at the meeting.
On 12th February the W.I. hosted a Lent Lunch in the village Hall. As always it was very well attended with lively chatter creating a great atmosphere. Eight different soups were available as well as breads, biscuits and cheeses. Tea and coffee followed and everybody felt that they had enjoyed a very substantial lunch. £213.00 was raised for Christian Aid. Our thanks to Joyce for the organisation, and to all our members who contributed to the success of the lunch in any way. Many thanks, also, to the villagers of Goldhanger and their friends for attending.
