GOLDHANGER, LITTLE TOTHAM and TOLLESHUNT MAJOR W.I.
Our next meeting will be held on November 1st at the Village Hall. The speaker will be Cynthia Ives and she will be encouraging us to get crafty for Christmas making crackers and little angels too. Please bring along your flower of the month for our competition.
Max Keenan was our speaker last month and she taught us a good deal about the Hospice provision in our rural area. We learned of the enormous costs involved since the service is only partially funded by NHS, but also of the tremendous benefit to patients and families. So many families in our villages have reason to be thankful for the local provision and our members were very happy to make a contribution. Pam's pretty dahlia took 1st place in the flower competition with Pat's alstroemeria a close second. The refreshments were lovely and we thank the members who made and served them.
We filled the Chequers Dining room and spilled out into the bar on October 12th for our Annual Dinner. As always the meal was delicious and the atmosphere most welcoming. May we thank Dom and Phil and their wonderful staff for a great evening.
There will be a Coffee Morning held at Lizzie Lawrence's house, 2, Head Street, on 15th November at 10.30 a.m. All proceeds will be donated to The Children's Burns Club at Broomfield Hospital. Lizzie also thanks our members for their contributions of small toys and stickers. A large collection of these were displayed at our last meeting.
