Goldhanger Parish Magazine Article - October 2015

GOLDHANGER, LITTLE TOTHAM and TOLLESHUNT MAJOR W.I.

The October meeting will be held at the Village Hall on Wednesday October 7th 7.30 p.m. The speaker is to be Jan Williams and her subject is STORY TELLING.  If you have a single flower from your garden to enter our monthly competition please bring it for the table.

The Beetle Drive, as always, was a great social evening. The hall was very full with 15 tables of four players, all racing to throw their dice as if they were competing to win the proverbial ‘town hall clock’. Beetles were drawn with varying degrees of skill and the volume of yelling and laughing went up and up. A break for our fish and chip supper was followed by more frenzy until the winner was declared. Many thanks to Pam Gibbard who organised the evening for us all to enjoy.

The Gala weekend enjoyed good weather on Saturday and the village was crowded with villagers and visitors. We served the teas and cakes in the Village Hall as people came to take a look at the Art Show and we thank all our members who baked and helped, in both setting up the hall and serving the teas, for making it such a successful weekend. As always, Joyce was at the helm making sure that everything ran smoothly and we thank her for all her hard work in undertaking the task.

At the time of writing, we are looking forward to our trip to London to see GYPSY with Imelda Staunton. The Matinee performance will be followed by a buffet dinner in the Strand Palace Hotel before our return to

Goldhanger.  Our Annual Dinner will be held in the Chequers on Thursday 22nd October. Please arrive at 7.00 p.m. for dinner at 7. 30.

Our website continues to be a great source of information with a lot of happy times highlighted in the photo gallery. Rachel is always happy to include any photos we send her of our many activities. All we need to know with just a click on www.goldhangerwi.co.uk.
